California's birthplace and second largest city, San Diego is known for its spectacular climate, historical sites, scenic beauty, and casual, friendly feel. The Hispanic population in San Diego is the 11th largest in the nation and represents 76% of the total county population growth from 1990 to 2000. Latinos in San Diego and Tijuana residents combined spent $10.7 billion in 2000 alone.

San Diego boasts a citywide population of nearly 1.3 million, while San Diego County has more than 2.8 million residents. Within its borders of 4,200 square miles, San Diego County encompasses 18 incorporated cities and numerous other charming neighborhoods and communities.

Of the National Council of La Raza’s (NCLR) 64 California Affiliates, 12 serve San Diego County, providing a variety of services to the community in areas such as homeownership, education, parental assistance, business entrepreneurship, economic literacy, and cultural arts.

NCLR is thrilled to host the 2008 NCLR Annual Conference and Latino Expo USA in San Diego, a city with Latin flare, rich history, and world-class attractions.
