NCLR, PIQE, MAAC PROJECT, AND CHICANO FEDERATION TO HOST PRESCHOOL FOR ALL TOWN HALL IN SAN DIEGOWashington, DC On February 21, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) and its affiliates Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE), MAAC Project, and the Chicano Federation will host the “California Preschool for All” town hall. The bilingual event, with the participation of Telemundo 33’s Zeji Ozeri, anchor of Cada Día con el 33, will provide information about the Preschool for All initiative and includes games, prizes, and refreshments. This event is the first in a series of NCLR-hosted statewide town halls about Preschool for All and is free and open to the public. Preschool for All will be voted on all over the state in June 2006 and, if passed, will provide all four-year-olds in California with a high-quality, free preschool education. As nearly half of Latino children in the state are under the age of five, support for this program means that more Hispanic youth will have access to the education and opportunities they deserve as valuable investments to the state’s future workforce.
