Southwest Nonprofit Housing Corporation
The mission of the Southwest Non-Profit Housing Corporation (SWNHC) is to develop and manage affordable and supported rental and for sale housing for low and moderate income individuals and families that is high quality in its construction, design, and operation and is an asset to the process of community revitalization in Southwest Detroit. Core activities include, but are not limited to, emergency home repair, major single-family rehabs and new construction, homebuyer education, and financial literacy courses. SWNHC recognizes the need for a culturally-based housing program geared specifically towards the Latino community in Southwest Detroit to increase their homeownership rates and quality of housing. To achieve the objective of addressing the housing challenges that ethnic minorities face, SWNHC believes in collaborating and developing inter-organizational coalitions with local and national agencies committed to providing affordable housing to ethnic minorities. SWNCH is a licensed Michigan Real Estate Broker with four of its staff licensed professional real estate salespersons. Programs and services include Single Family Development, Real Estate Development, Development Consultant Services, Property Management, and onsite educational, job training, and supportive services for housing program residents. SWNHC is applying for affiliation with NCLR following its merging with Springwells Community Housing and Development, Inc., an affiliate member of NCLR since 2002. |
