Housing America Corporation
The Housing America Corporation (HAC) was founded in 1976 and promotes the social welfare of Yuma and Mohave County residents through the development, renovation, and provision of housing for very low-, low-, and moderate-income families. HAC provides affordable housing through farm labor and Section 8 multifamily units, self-help housing projects, and a forgivable grant program offering downpayment and closing cost subsidies. In addition, HAC provides homeownership education counseling to the community. HAC serves both Yuma and Mohave Counties, and 95% of its families served are Hispanic. Housing America Corporation has a multifamily division with 112 units of affordable housing for low-income families, a self-help division with 774 completed units of self-help housing for low-income families, and a homeownership education counseling division, assisting over 820 families with $7.8 million in buydown assistance since March 1998. |
