Community Housing Resources of Arizona (CHRA) is a nonprofit, HUD-approved housing counseling agency establish in 1987 specifically to promote fair housing and equal housing opportunities for residents of Phoenix. In 1990 CHRA expanded its services to include bilingual, one-on-one pre-purchase counseling and since then has helped over 3,000 families achieve the dream of homeownership. CHRA is committed to meeting the special housing needs of low-income and minority households through a comprehensive program of pre-purchase counseling, educational workshops and seminars, and direct-to-client downpayment and closing cost subsidies. CHRA has found that bilingual, one-on-one pre-purchase counseling is the most effective way to assist Hispanic families to realize the dream of homeownership. The large number of Hispanic families who have completed CHRA’s counseling program and purchased homes supports that belief.
